Why convert PNG to JPG?
PNG is lossless, so screenshots and photos saved as PNG are often several times larger than necessary. JPG compresses photos far better, which makes files easier to email, upload to forms with size limits, or put in a slide deck.
Transparency
JPG has no transparency. Transparent areas of your PNG are filled with the background color you choose (white by default), so logos don't turn black.
When to keep PNG
- Screenshots with small text, diagrams and logos with sharp edges stay crisper as PNG.
- Images that need a transparent background.
FAQ
Is my image uploaded?
No. The conversion uses your browser's built-in canvas, so the image never leaves your computer.
What quality should I use?
80–90% is a good balance of size and quality for photos. Use 95–100% for images with text.
