How business days are counted
The count includes both the start and end date, the same as Excel's NETWORKDAYS function. Saturdays and Sundays are excluded, and, if ticked, the 11 US federal holidays.
US federal holidays used
New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day (3rd Monday of January), Presidents' Day (3rd Monday of February), Memorial Day (last Monday of May), Juneteenth (June 19), Independence Day (July 4), Labor Day (1st Monday of September), Columbus Day (2nd Monday of October), Veterans Day (November 11), Thanksgiving (4th Thursday of November) and Christmas Day. A holiday on Saturday is observed the Friday before, and one on Sunday the Monday after—following OPM rules. For example, in 2026 Independence Day falls on Saturday, so Friday, July 3 is the day off.
Adding business days
“10 business days after” counts forward from the start date, skipping weekends and holidays—useful for payment terms, notice periods and SLA deadlines.
